Cat and Baby Squirrel - An Unlikely Pair

It was reported at KNBC4 on May 10, 2005 that at the Spokane Humane Society in Washington, a baby squirrel was being kept with 150 cats and kittens that were staying at the society until they had been rehomed.

The squirrel fell from it's nest , and a mother cat, whose instinctive nature to protect the young kicked in, had adopted the little creature. The cat treats it as if it were her own. It is an amazing sight to see the size of the mother cat completely "dwarfing" the baby squirrel and yet being so gentle, protective and loving.
